Sea of Chills

This sea is deep and full of swift currents ready to drag not so good swimmers away. It is also one of the coldest places to be since its situated north of the cold northern lands. The ice usually floats in giant chunks just above the water. Only in the deepest part of winter will the water freeze over completely. Even though it is cold here many fish species live and grow under the ice in the fast moving water. This allows for other sturdy creatures to also survive in the frozen sea.

Tall Bark Forest: North

Cold and beautiful is the northern coniferous end of the Tall Bark Forest. This section of the forest is filled with a mixture of tall ancient fir, spruce, pine, hemlock, juniper, and cedar trees. There are a few sparse clearings throughout the forest that have been opened up by fire, landslides, or flooding. At the northernmost edge of this forest the trees begin to shorten. Open space between the timbers grow wider until at last there are no more trees but shrubs and bushes taking their place.

Wide Blue Ocean

As the name of this territory suggests, this ocean is vast and blue. Once in a while the water turns red or green from algae and plankton swarms, but generally it stays blue all year round. Many species of fish, whales, sea birds, porpoises, invertebrates, and a huge amount of other species live in these waters. This is the best ocean to fish in, and the plethora of coral reefs makes everything look beautiful underwater. Deeper areas harbor different species that stay away from the shallow reefs. Be careful of other predators that lie in wait within the wide blue ocean.

Tall Bark Forest: East

This area of Tall Bark Forest is dominated by a mixed temperate coniferous forest. The conifer trees of the north greatly mix with the hardwood trees in this area. Spruce, juniper, fir, hemlock, and cedar trees are generously sprinkled through the hills and short mountains between the more numerous pine trees. Oak, elm, maple, birch, and beech trees vastly outnumber the other species in the low lying valleys where they make this land their home. The temperatures here tend to lead to warm summers and cold winters, but give plenty of rainfall to sustain both the broad and needle leaved trees within the area.

Tall Bark Forest: Center

This area of Tall Bark Forest is dominated by a mixed temperate broad-leaved forest. The conifer trees of the north begin to dwindle here as the hardwood trees slowly start to take over. A rare spruce, juniper, fir, or cedar tree may pepper the landscape between the more numerous pine trees. However the oak, elm, maple, and beech trees vastly outnumber the other species that make this land their home. The temperatures here tend to lead to warm summers and cold winters, but give plenty of rainfall to sustain the broad leaved trees within the area.

Scaled Land Desert

This desert is situated between the two mountain ranges that separate the east of teranaysia from the center. Between these mountains is a patch of dry land where no plant can grow, and no animal can live. There is no humidity or rainfall at all in this area because of the rain shadows from the surrounding mountain ranges. Cactus can only grow on the very southern most edges of this desert where the mountains lower enough so that rain can occasionally pass over them. In the far north the hot desert turns into a freezing desert. The farther north you go the colder the desert becomes until it mixes with the tundra. The farther south you travel from the center of the desert the more rain falls. This rain turns the dry desert into a lush grassland valley. The valley turns into pine barrens near the shallow mountains in the far south. On the opposing side of the lower mountains where more rain is allowed to fall a tropical rainforest thrives.

Tall Bark Forest: West

This area of Tall Bark Forest is dominated by a mixed temperate broad-leaved forest. The conifer trees of the north can barely survive here as the hardwood trees quickly take over. A rare hemlock tree may pepper the landscape between the more numerous oak, elm, maple, birch, and beech trees. Ferns are one of many kinds of dense leafy plant species that make up the undergrowth beneath the trees. The temperatures here tend to lead to warm summers and cold winters, but give plenty of rainfall to sustain the broad leaved trees and green plants within the area.

The Smoking Ocean

The ocean found just beyond the black sand beach often lets off gas into the air from beneath the ocean water. Sometimes these gases are clear, and sometimes these gases are smokey black. These gases can be dangerous once they are in the air though. The black smoke is annoying and smells like sulfur, but it won't hurt you much if at all. Carbon monoxide in particular is a clear gas that often bubbles up through the ocean and bursts into the air. Animals can very quickly die from breathing in carbon monoxide, so be wary. Dragons flying through the air can also become disoriented by the gas. Carbon monoxide changes the density of the air and can drop a dragon right out of the sky and into the ocean if the gas pocket it large enough and the dragon isn't careful.

Tall Bark Forest: South

The lush temperate broad leaved forest of the west slowly changes over into a dense tropical forest the farther south you travel. The oaks, elms, birches, and maple decrease in number the warmer the temperatures get throughout the year. As the heat and humidity increase the number of palms, fruit bearing, and nut trees. In this territory a cold winter is a rare winter. It almost never snows in this section of the continent. In fact, this area of the continent is almost always raining. Whenever it isn't lightning storming or raining the days are filled with sunshine and rainbows...quite literally.

Emerald Sea

This sea is called the emerald sea because of the green algae that bloom almost infinitely in these warm shallow waters. The temperatures and conditions are perfect for these little creatures to keep the water a vibrant green year round. Sometimes the algae move around and make clear open spots of blue sea water for everyone to look at. Usually this occurs because the algae have been eaten by something large in that specific clear area of blue sea water.
